Our NAME reflects a story –a story of people finding refuge and redemption.
'Ark'- the place of refuge and redemption
(Hebrews 11:7; 1 Peter 3:20)
'House' - a name for the Church; God's family
(1 Timothy 3:15, Hebrews 3:6; Ephesians 2:19)
Long ago, God looked at the world he had made and saw only injustice and suffering. God warned people they were self-destructing but only Noah listened. God redeemed Noah and used him, through the refuge of the ark, he formed a new community to recreate the world.
The Noah story helps us understand Jesus.
God used Jesus to bring refuge and redemption to the world.
By his life, death and resurrection to new life, Jesus took upon himself the pain, evil, shame and suffering of this world to bring refuge and redemption to all who would turn to God.
Today, God continues to redeem people and bring them into his family.
Arkhouse Church hopes to be a house of refuge participating in God’s continuing story of redemption.
"Christ is faithful over God's house as a Son.
And we are his house if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope."
- Hebrews 3:6
